Picking up where Sonomar’s first cymbal library left off, Sonomar Collection: Bowed & Scraped Cymbals is packed with expressive drones, abrasive screeches, and shimmering resonance just waiting to be processed and manipulated. Every sound designer should have a library of bowed and scraped cymbals for creating transitions, risers, stingers, and ambiences - and this is the only one you’ll ever need.
To create this library, sound artist Martin Pinsonnault (CODA, Dallas Buyers Club) and the Sonomar team gathered a selection of brass cymbals from eight to 22 inches in diameter, as well as several resonant bowls and lamps. Using items such as a violin bow, a toy airplane, and an electromagnetic C-Bow, the Sonomar team produced a myriad of sounds ranging from short strokes and screeches to long, expressive bowing, shimmering resonant scrapes, and distorted feedback-like passes.
The entire library was recorded with four stereo microphone pairs for maximum flexibility. All files are raw and unprocessed, giving you the freedom to manipulate, stretch, and pitch-shift them for unlimited sound design possibilities.
